Another Rung

Val and I visited this afternoon,to see Dave and to see the Registrar. He told us they are pleased with his progress, still working on getting him out and about. While we were there the physio`s got him out into a fancy chair which tilts and reclines so they can gradually try and overcome the fainting problem that he has. The other thing to sort is the feeding, but given time they are hopeful this will resolve itself.I hope so because he asked Lesley yesterday whether the butcher had any "Badger pie" in!! We gave him a Cycle magazine that had arrived for him and he was busy taking the plastic cover off when Chris and John arrived to see him,so thanks to them for visiting and to Rob and Pat over the weekend.

Hi Dave

Badger Pie indeed – you haven’t lost your sense of humour then?! I’ve made this sort of DVD for you using Microsoft Movie Maker which I hope you will enjoy. It is all about the Dordogne and the music playing in the background is “Sand in your shoes” by Jenna Witts with Seth Lakeman and Steve Knightley of Western Approaches. I thought you’d like that. You will have to sit up to view it and will need perhaps a laptop and earphones too. I am sending it to Roger to organise the technical side?!

Paul, Clive and I have just returned from 3 days cycling in Cornwall and were very fortunate indeed to have wonderful blue sky and sunshine every day. We didn’t get back to base until 7.30pm one night cycling along dark moonlit lanes, up and down 1:4 hills, humping bikes over kissing gates which shouldn’t have been there at all, etc etc.

Charlestown near St Austell, was just magical! We were lucky enough to find 3 tall ships berthed there including “Kaselot” and the “Duke of Pembroke”, which I sailed on out of Dartmouth last summer. Do you remember when we went out on that Danish ketch “Mar II” whilst in Halifax, Nova Scotia? Such a brilliant finish to a fantastic tour of Nova Scotia. I think we saw Blue Nose in the distance in full sail too, from Chester was it? We will have to ask Derek for a precise location in Nova Scotia unless anyone else can remember.

Hope to see you soon Dave – Jilly x
