New outfit

Not a great deal of change to report today, Roger and Margaret visited yesterday evening and we went this afternoon. Dave is still maintaining his sense of humour. Today he was wearing the pyjamas we got him recently and he's so grateful to me for the colour - helicopter blue - reminds him of his work overalls! Thanks sis.

Dave is still very disorientated about where he is at the moment and what he may have been doing. For instance he tells us most days that he has been wandering out and about. However, this is unlikely because as far as we have been told, the physios only see him every other day and up to now he may only have been sitting in the special chair they have, or using the standing 'contraption'. Never mind his memory for past events is good and actually Jilly, Dave told us all about the photos the other night without the aid of any annotations. He also mentioned that he took some good photos of a bald eagle.

Thanks to Roger Nash for the CD and card which Roger took up for Dave yesterday. Actually Dave did say how lucky he has been to receive so many cards and he will have to write and thank everyone one day.

Morning Dave – How are you today? Just to say I frequently receive calls from people whose paths you have crossed asking how you are getting on. Some only have limited access to the internet such as Jill from Topsham, who rang again the other evening asking about your progress. Last night Jan from Coleton Raleigh rang specifically to say how moved she has been with the daily reports on the Blog. We reminisced at length and Jan well remembers meeting you for the first time when you had both been recently bereaved.

Need I say more than New Year 2006 at YH Land’s End when it all happened – 4 days of it all! What a party that was to remember, you must have wondered what I’d thrown you in to! Russell on the harmonica, Peter on the drums, Colin playing something too, as well as other musicians – some cacophony. Then after the disco, a conga round the garden at midnight under a starlight sky! No near neighbours to complain as the noise went on and on until the small hours. Jenny led the story telling around the log fire with contributions from Angela and others. Jill, you and I cycling in howling wind and rain to Penzance and St Ives, getting to Fat Face just as they halved the half price sale - irresistible! Three dripping wet cyclists trying on clothes! I think we all bought something.

Jan remembers when several of us went to her house during Christmas 2007 and we all went for a marvellous walk along the cliffs, somehow managing to lose Jane (from Morocco) and Jilly (that’s me) deep in conversation about a potential trekking and wild camping trip to Morocco! Fortunately Ross noticed we’d missed the turn off when he did a head count and spotted my yellow reflective jacket disappearing along the cliffs in the far distance! He used his whistle frantically eventually catching our attention! Back to Jan’s for a wonderful buffet followed by charades, other games and much laughter.

Following the display of your ceilidh dancing skills at Jan and Jane’s BIG birthday at Longdown Village Hall earlier this year, everybody waits in anticipation for the Christmas party at Clyst St Mary Village Hall for a re-run.

Jilly x

Hello Dave
I've been keeping up daily with the Blog - so pleased to read about your progress. The new pyjamas sound very trendy, and just your colour!

Thinking of you. Best wishes to you and your family.
